A great big round of THANK YOU’s TO ALL for helping make MEMO’s 36th Discover Medfield Day the success it was !!!!
THANK YOU TO ALL OUR EXHIBITORS. Most of you were veterans of one or many Discover Medfield Days. And glad to see so many “rookies” joining us. This year we sold-out our booths the middle of August, the earliest I can remember in the 15 years I’ve been chairing this event. We even had a wait-list with 7 registered hopefuls, and had 3 others trying to register just days before “game day”. This is attributed to the fact that Discover Medfield Day has established itself as the PREMIER event of its kind in the area. So, to all next year … watch in the local newspapers and on the MEMO website for the timetable for registering, and anticipate that we will again sell-out before summer ends.
THANK YOU TO ALL OUR LEAD SPONSORS. Clay Family Dealerships as our Platinum Sponsor. Starr & Glick Orthodontics as our Gold Sponsor. West Mill Smiles and Needham Bank as our Silver Sponsors. Rockland Trust, Middlesex Savings Bank, Postal Center, Dover Trucking, and LDK Electric as our Bronze Sponsors. These businesses have been very generous to our event over the years. They’re also generous supporters of other organizations and events in Medfield. So, please support their businesses when you have the opportunity.
THANK YOU TO ALL OUR RIDES SPONSORS. Alison Brown – Coldwell Banker, Annette & Bill Gallagher, APC Pest & Termite Control, Get In Shape for Women, Goddard School, Medfield Afterschool Program, Middlesex Savings Bank, Needham Bank, Prospect Mortgage, Real Living Realty Group, and William Raveis – Delta Realtors. Again, these businesses have been involved with Discover Medfield Day over the years and support the local community. So, please think of them when you have the opportunity.
THANK YOU TO ALL OUR HS STUDENT VOLUNTEERS. For many years the Medfield High School Student Council has recruited HS students to help MEMO collect tickets and monitor the Kids’ Alley rides. This year the Council was particularly successful in recruiting. And the rides vendor said this year’s student volunteers were the best they’ve worked with for rides management. Special thanks to Council President, Andrea Nevins, who was primarily instrumental in recruiting and managing the student volunteers.
THANK YOU TO ALL OUR ADULT VOLUNTEERS. It takes many hands to make it all happen … from set-up, to selling tickets and overseeing Kids’s Alley, to staffing the MEMO booth, to take-down … too numerous to mention, yet thank you all. But in particular, Tom Erb, Henry Marcel, Anand Rao, Mark Fisher, Jim Feeney, and Larry Kilkenny.
THANK YOU TO THE TOWN OF MEDFIELD HIGHWAY, FIRE AND POLICE DEPARTMENTS. Bobby Kennedy & Co. help with some of the behind the scenes tasks: set-up of the entertainment stage (which the School Department lends), road closing signage, and Montrose field protection signage. Then at the end of the day, they sweep the streets, help with general grounds clean-up, and return the stage to the school. Chief Kingsbury helps with hanging the street banner. The ambulance is on-site for emergencies and first-aid. The police department has a presence during the day for traffic and crowd control, and providing a station offering free children’s ID packages. Plus the welcome addition of the fire and police trucks for the kids to experience.
THANK YOU TO THE DISCOVER MEDFIELD DAY COMMITTEE. I’m particularly thankful to those MEMO members who serve with me on the Discover Medfield Day Committee. Most have served for several years, and a couple have been with me since I started. We begin planning for the event in February, meet monthly, and independently handle various aspects of the event. Cheryl O‘Donnell (Rockland Trust), Brandie Morris (Electric Time), Reka Athanasiadis (Morphosi Academy), Seymour Levy (Seymour Levy Graphic Design), Alison Brown (Coldwell Banker), Erica Cote (Medfield Public Library), and Suzy Ferrantino (Prospect Mortgage). Together, the committee members volunteer hundreds of hours in the “labor of love” which is Discover Medfield Day.
THANK YOU TO ALL OUR EVENT ATTENDEES. We know Mother Nature has a major effect on attendance, but rain or shine, the Town of Medfield always comes out to support and enjoy the event. MEMO bills this as “Medfield’s largest feel-good event of the year”, and this year was no exception.
SEE YOU ALL NEXT YEAR !!!!
